After Business Hours Emergency Filing Procedures

The following procedures are only for parties seeking to FILE an emergency matter that requires the IMMEDIATE attention of a Judge or the Clerk’s Office AFTER normal business hours because the emergency is so urgent it cannot wait until the following business day. After-hours filing emergencies include, but are not limited to, the need to seal filings on the public docket, motions for Temporary Restraining Orders (TRO) or injunctions, election day filings, etc. Please note that litigants with access to CM/ECF are still required to file documents electronically.

If an emergency matter MUST be filed after business hours, contact the number below that is associated with the location where the new case would be filed.  Please leave a message along with your telephone number.  If for any reason you are unable to reach someone at that number, contact the other division.

  • (340) 775-8005 (St. Thomas/St. John); or
  • (340) 712-7105 (St. Croix).

The above after hour emergency numbers are not monitored during business hours.

All other inquiries regarding court matters must be directed to the Clerk’s Office in person or by calling 340-774-0640 (St. Thomas/St. John) or 340-718-1130 (St. Croix) during normal business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
