Kids and the Court

In 2005, the St. Thomas Division of the District Court of the Virgin Islands created the Kids and the Court Program.  Its purpose is to offer the children in our community a broad overview of the court's functions and its facilities.  The program also seeks to give students an opportunity to interact with the court staff in a positive setting.

As part of the program, the students receive a tour of the Court and the various offices with which we work.  Additionally, they will hear presentations from judges and others who work in the court system on the importance of the judicial system, the relationship and role of each component that comprises the court system, the skills required in the court environment, as well as the various career opportunities that flow from those skills in the judicial system and beyond.

An invitation is extended to any group of 15 to 45 students in the school system to visit the Court to participate in our program.

The Court family is very excited about the Kids and the Court Program and looks forward to the prospect of hosting the students.  To arrange the students' trips to the courthouse, principals should contact Mrs. Olga Schneider at 340-774-1800.
