CONSTITUTIONAL & CIVIL RIGHTS SCHOLAR ERWIN CHEMERINSKY TO KEYNOTE DISTRICT COURT CONFERENCE

Speech to Mark 50th Anniversary of 1964 Civil Rights Act and 60th Anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education

 

The Chief Judge of the District Court, the Honorable Wilma A. Lewis, is pleased to announce the Fifth Annual District Conference of the District Court of the Virgin Islands on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Frenchman’s Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

 

Highlights of the program will include presentations from some of the most well-respected and sought after legal scholars in the country. In addition to the Keynote Address by Professor Erwin Chemerinsky, Dean, University of California, Irving School of Law, the Conference will feature presentations by Professor Bryan A. Garner, Editor of Black’s Law Dictionary and preeminent authority on legal writing; and Professor Geoffrey C. Hazard, Jr., Emeritus Professor of Law, University of California Hastings College of the Law, a leading scholar on legal ethics. Members of the local and federal judiciary will also participate on panels discussing effective legal practice in the Virgin Islands.
