Payment and Parking for Jurors

Payment

  • You will be paid a $50.00 attendance fee for each day your service is required and you report for jury duty, even though you may not be selected for a jury panel. If you are an employee of the Federal Government, you should report this fact to the Jury Clerk.  Full-time, part-time, or temporary employees of the Federal Government, excluding Postal employees, who serve as jurors in Federal Court are not entitled to an attendance fee.  However, if you are in a non-pay status during all or part of your term of jury service, you will be entitled to the attendance fee.

  • All jurors are reimbursed for mileage from their home to the court and back at the current rate approved by the government’s General Services Administration, and reimbursed for ferry tolls (receipt is needed) for St. John/Water Island residents.  The court does not pay taxi fare unless you are a resident of St. John/Water Island (receipt is needed).

  • Petit jurors are paid at the end of their jury service and their checks will be mailed to the address on file.

  • Grand jurors are paid every three months.

  • The $50.00 per day attendance fee must be reported as income for tax purposes only if it exceeds $600.00
