NEW CHIEF U.S. PROBATION OFFICER SELECTED FOR THE DISTRICT COURT OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS

Friday, April 4, 2014
The Honorable Wilma A. Lewis, Chief Judge of the District Court of the Virgin Islands, is pleased to announce that Larry T. Glenn has been selected to serve as Chief U.S. Probation Officer for the District of the Virgin Islands. Mr. Glenn will assume his new position effective Monday, April 7, 2014, and will be resident on St. Croix.

A graduate of St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, Mr. Glenn has twenty-three years of service with the U.S. Government—including eighteen years with the Office of Probation and Pretrial Services. He previously served with the District Court of the Virgin Islands as the Supervising U.S. Probation Officer on St. Thomas from 1999 to 2008. Prior to his service on St. Thomas, he served as a Probation Officer in the Eastern District of Michigan and in the Eastern District of Virginia. For the past five years, Mr. Glenn has served as a Hearing Examiner with the U.S. Parole Commission in Washington, D.C.

With regard to the selection of Mr. Glenn, Chief Judge Lewis stated: “I am very pleased to welcome Mr. Glenn back to the Virgin Islands and to the District Court. Mr. Glenn brings with him a wealth of experience; an intimate familiarity with, and commitment to, our Court from his prior tenure here; and a strong desire to return to serve our Court and our community. Mr. Glenn’s prior work in three vastly different district courts has provided him with a broad perspective of the probation system. In addition, his experience with the Parole Commission, as well as with cases involving substance abuse and mental health issues, has broadened his knowledge of the criminal justice system. Mr. Glenn is thus well equipped to take on the role of Chief Probation Officer, and I look forward to his leadership in that capacity.”

Mr. Glenn replaces Denise Donadelle-DeCosta, who is retiring from Federal Government service, having served over nine years as Chief U.S. Probation Officer and a total of 25½ years with the Federal Government. The Court expresses its thanks and appreciation to Mrs. Donadelle-DeCosta for her tireless and dedicated service to the Court.
